Wedding number Six….

The final wedding this year (that I am aware of) was at the end of august. I’ve been swamped with various sporting activities so I haven’t had a chance to blog about it. Sorry about that. Regardless, the wedding was fantastic. It was for Geoff and Ally and it was a wonderful morning celebration at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church located at 230 St. Clair West. The venue was fantastic and filled with so much joy for this couple who finally got married. It was a long time coming! 

The reception followed later that evening in Scarborough’s Grand Baccus hall and was filled with games and a delicious 10 course authentic Chinese meal.  We all partied until the late hours and I met a fellow camera person who has a lot of enthusiasm for the craft.  I look forward to discussing potential projects with him in the near future.

Salty has arrived….

The other day I was checking my mail (as usual) and I found this small package wedged into the mailbox.  I wasn’t expecting anything in particular as I hadn’t been ordering anything online lately.  Much to my surprise and entertainment I found Salty and his brother Peppery (I’m not quite sure if that’s the pepper shakers name but that’s what I’ll be calling it!).  I ordered this set of Salt & Pepper shakers months ago and had long since forgotten about them. Now that I do have them, I’ve decided to do an ongoing image tribute to these guys.  Mostly Salty since you can see his fantastic expression on his face.  The look of awe…  I may occasionally post my favorite ones on this site, otherwise you’ll have to know me on flickr to see the complete set here.

Wedding number five….

Wedding five took place at my alma mater, Queen’s University.  It was quite surreal being back. Being the fan of nostalgia that I am, I decided to stay in res. Infact I stayed in the same room I lived in back in first year!  Yes lame I am aware but it was just something I figured would be interesting.  It actually turned out to be very strange and creepy.  It felt like I was reliving that very first day I showed up, where nothing was unpacked and the room and rez was empty.   Overall it was a great experience being back on campus again. I haven’t been back for the past few years and there have been many changes that have taken place. I’ll blog more about that later as I still need to go through the actual Kingston photos.

Anyhow back to the topic at hand. Wedding number 5.  It took place at the university club located near the waters of lake Ontario.  The ceremony itself took place in the backyard garden area followed by cocktail hour and reception up in the 2^nd floor hall.  All were absolutely stunning and perfectly suited for the couple who I’ve known since my university days. 

The wedding proved to be somewhat of a challenge though since I was the best man at this wedding.  This of course meant not being out in the audience taking photos.  I was lucky enough to have a friend there who would take on the challenge however he wasn’t very familiar with my camera.  He took as many shots of the ceremony as he could and I was able to work with those to hopefully capture some amazing memories.   Congrats Nevin and Sara!!! =)

The next wedding is in two weeks and will be in town again.  It’ll be quite the event as I’m sure it’ll be huge.

Sugar Beach….

The other day I was looking into things to do in Toronto. I’ve done most festivals and major attractions in Toronto over the years.  I may not have taken photos but I have done them so they become less alluring as a result.  A friend mentioned Sugar beach the other day; a new piece of land converted from a parking lot into a somewhat of a beachfront relaxing / lounge for the area.  Though it’s a bit out fo the way for normal office folk, the fact there are a few offices around does help business I imagine.

When I arrived a few weeks ago, it seemed that it was under construction with large vehicles ready to be packed up.  I heard just the other day it is now official open, but here are some pics prior to that.  I tried to get shots without the bulldozer

Delicious Cheese….

I’ve decided to do a couple other miscellaneous posts between now and when I get through the photos of my friends  wedding in Kingston, Ontario.  The other day I was able to go to a somewhat celebratory lunch with some friends.  They of course were just recently engaged; This directly translates in a future blog post next year when they get married!  However, that day was dedicated to the Distillery and more specifically enjoying great food from a local pub.  Though I do frequent Mill St. Brewery often, I rarely get a chance to have a sit down meal there.  That day I ordered the Steak and Stilton Pot Pie.  It was absolutely delicious.  In fact writing about it now is making me somewhat hungry.  The stilton definitely gave me a good punch.  Though more known for it’s infamous “terror dreams” that it induces in some; it was used as a sharp accent on this meaty pie.
